Add to Tallahassee’s Canopy and Adopt a Tree!
City residents eligible for two trees – To help ensure the Capital City’s well-known canopy of trees remains intact, the City of Tallahassee is once again offering free trees to eligible homeowners within the city limits. Residents can apply to receive one or two trees through the City’s popular Adopt-A-Tree program. Applications and tree adoption information are available online at the City’s Talgov.com website. To receive trees from the City, a citizen must adhere to the following guidelines:
Personnel from the Public Works Department’s landscape unit will meet with qualifying homeowners to assist with tree selection and location for planting. City crews will also locate municipal underground utility lines prior to planting. Trees available this year include:
Details on each are included on the website, and tree planting will begin in early February. Trees will be planted within several weeks of the application being received. To adopt a tree from the City, simply visit Talgov.com and complete the online application. Citizens may also call the City’s Public Works Operations Division at 891-5676 to adopt a tree.
